Vibrant Dying

Morning walk. Falling with style.

We each have crosses. They are all very different from each other. But crosses are hard for us. They lead to death. And we were not created to die. So, crosses scare us, they make us sad, they take us to places we do not want to go, they make us stubborn. But each cross can be turned into something incredible if we let Grace seep, let it take hold of the dying. Then we can actually turn it into "something beautiful for God". Grace and prayer can color the suffering so vibrantly that we are able to carry it without fear or rebellion. But the grace must seep in. We must let it work: with prayer, with meditation, with practicing surrender. It will look different for each one. Some will get full on color quickly. Some will get a little at a time. Some will make it half way through and rest awhile before they pick up the cross again. God is so good. He waits and helps and has great sympathy for our dying....he wept for Lazarus, once. He also has compassion on us.
Somehow it helps to know that He realizes that suffering is so hard for us. It makes it easier to "fall with style" for Him. It makes us beautiful and beloved in His eyes. We bring Him joy with our meager attempts at courage. To bring joy to the one who understands best that we were never meant to die.
